Turn your skills into cash: Freelancer

Today i´m going to write about a freelance site that has been widely appraised for it´s offer and quality. Formerly known as Getafreelancer.com, Freelancer.com is now the leading site in the freelancing industry. Whether you are looking for a job or need work done, Freelancer will help you get in touch with potential employers/workers. How does it work? Very simple. All you need to do is register on the site, choose your skills, and bid on existing projects! Easy as that, right?  Well, not exactly. The process described is true, but the outcome, as always, depends on you. The competition is also out there and you really need to stand out from the crowd to be noticed and earn the employers attention. You can do that in various ways, starting with the basic ones: portfolio and a quality bid. I will write more about successful bidding some other time, so now let´s return to the site features. There is a vast array of jobs at your disposal, in more than 250 categories, and by vast i really mean VAST!  Aside from working on projects, you have the opportunity to earn from additional income methods as following: contests, FreelancerCash advertising units, text links, banners, RSS feeds, Javascript, data feeds and affiliate API. When working on projects, you can set your initial milestone payment to be sure the requester is legit, but the majority of requester is real because Freelancer strives for quality by banning illegal activities and fraud contractors. There are also opportunities for fulltime jobs, so it really pays of to invest a portion of your time to set up a quality profile and start searching for work. Freelancer takes a small fee on your project earnings, that´s how the site finances itself among other methods, but it should not bother you since the minimum bid amount per project is $30, and the average around $200. There are also projects which pay more than $5000, so real money could be earned here if you are skillful enough.  The conclusion: Freelancer.com is a great site for all those who have some creative or marketing skills, because it pays good for working good , it gives you opportunity to cash in on your knowledge and maybe even a chance for a full time  job. If a contractor is satisfied, he will probably hire you for another project. For anyone who is looking for a real income source, Freelancer.com is a must.

  1. Hi! You've written a nice post about freelancing, but I still like XPlace better than Freelancer. This job board has a lot of job opportunities, higher hourly rates, and is commission-free.
